Senior Chemist

Esstential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Analytical set-up of methods related to mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS, PYMSD) and chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC)
  • Perform specialized analytical and method transfer and feasibility testing.
  • Qualitative data interpretation: identification of unknown compounds using mass spectrometry, FTIR and NMR.
  • Quantitative analysis: prepare calibration curves and determine percentage composition using GCMS, LC-MS and HPLC results.
  • Method development for sample extraction to purify target components from complex matrices prior to analysis, including a range of methods such as solid phase extraction (SPE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), rapid chromatography, precipitation or distillation.
  • Responsible for interpretation of the results of a range of analytical tests in simple terms.
  • Assist in other team members with interpretation and discussion of results with clients.
  • Resolve method and instrumentation problems.
  • Use office and instrument specific computer software.
  • Prepare written reports (e.g. SOPs, OMCs, customer reports, etc.).
  • Develop and execute validation plans.
  • Train technical staffs.

Job Required:

  • Excellent writing skills and good communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of mass spectrometry and chromatography.
  • Collaborate with teams of scientists to design and implement analytical strategies.
  • Execute or oversee complex analytical strategies.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry.
  • 3+ years of experience in the mass spectrometry and chromatography industry.
